Private Hospital San Rafael Arcangel GuanacasteIn 2002, Dr. Walbin Sánchez Solís, set up a clinic to deliver obstetrical services in the city of Liberia. It grew rapidly and by September 2006, the Hospital Clinico San Rafael Arcángel (HCSRA) was inaugurated. After a multi year expansion program, by 2013 it began operating as a full fledged first-world hospital.

HCSRA currently operates with a 24-hour, 7 days a week schedule. It has modern equipment for all medical emergencies in adults and children. On staff are emergency medicine specialists from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. alternating with specialists in Critical Care and Cardiology. Specialists in medical emergencies and Family Medicine are on-site during the hours of 4 p.m. to 7 a.m. every day. Specialists available in other areas include General Surgery, Orthopedics, Peripheral Vascular, Plastic Surgery, Dentistry, Otolaryngology, Gastroenterology, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics. In addition, the nursing staff has been trained in all aspects of emergency care.

The hospital has state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. There are two operating theaters with excellent standards of cleanliness and disinfection. The latest technology is in play with a new laparoscopic tower suitable for orthopedics, general surgery, urology, OB/GYN, weight loss surgery, and others. There are 13 inpatient rooms for the hospitalization of patients of intermediate complexity. The hospital employs a modern electronic medical record system that allows doctors and nurses to access patient information from other services. Moreover, the hospital contains ancillary services such as laboratory, pharmacy, and radiology department.
